A finance solution that enables you to spread the cost of your custom equipment over time and protect your cash flow

WHEN IT comes to commercial kitchen fit-outs or refurbishments, it’s the customised equipment and fixtures that often account for most of the cost.

This made-to-measure equipment can be pricey and, for some businesses, unaffordable. Even if you have the money, purchasing the equipment outright could put pressure on your business’s cash flow.

SilverChef’s Custom Equipment Lease makes customised equipment easier to obtain and reduces your financial exposure by enabling you to pay for the equipment in manageable instalments over two years.

May suit you if you’re…

  • A new or established business
  • Seeking at least $1,000 of custom-equipment funding
  • Aiming to own the equipment but want to pay for it in cash flow-friendly instalments

Key features

  • 24-month hire-purchase agreement
  • Fixed, weekly payments
  • Own the equipment at the end of the agreement
  • Interest component of the equipment leasing payments and the equipment’s depreciation are tax deductible. *
Custom equipment we'll fund

The custom equipment SilverChef funds includes not only tailor-made equipment, but other types of ‘non-standard’ equipment, fixtures and fittings too (see list below).

Benefits of Custom Equipment Lease

icon-1

Custom equipment

Securing funding for customised hospitality equipment can be challenging at the best of times, especially for start-ups.

If the bespoke equipment helps your business makes a profit, chances are we’ll be happy to finance it.

icon-2

Better cash flow

Instead of paying for the custom equipment outright, you can pay for it in manageable, weekly instalments out of the money it helps you make.

This helps safeguard your business’s cash flow, allowing you to meet your other expenses and expand your business with greater ease.

icon-3

Fixed payments

The weekly lease payments are fixed for the life of the agreement.

Since you pay the same amount each week, your budgeting and cash-flow projections will also be simpler.

icon-4

Tax-effective

The interest segment of your commercial kitchen equipment lease payments is a tax-deductible expense.

In addition, you can claim a deduction for the equipment’s depreciation over its useful life.*

icon-5

Pathway to ownership

Each lease payment takes you a step closer to owning your custom commercial kitchen equipment outright.

When the two-year finance term ends, the equipment is yours.

One-stop shop

As well as custom commercial kitchen equipment, we finance standard equipment (Rent–Try–Buy and Lease-to-Keep).

This means virtually all the equipment, fixtures and fittings you could possibly need for your venue can be funded by us. Easy!

As this is my first hospitality-industry experience, money was a big problem, but with SilverChef I could get all the equipment I dreamed of without any hassle. It doesn't matter how big you are in hospitality -- SilverChef is there for everyone.

SilverChef has been a great tool for us. It has allowed our kitchen to upscale equipment to meet growing demand without having to spend time reselling what we don’t need.

Thanks to SilverChef, we replaced three cooking appliances with a MerryChef and can now present much better food. We couldn't have done it without SilverChef.

It was an easy application process and I prefer using used equipment instead of buying new. This is not only cheaper, but also more sustainable.

SilverChef has allowed me to access the equipment I needed to scale up my business and increase my supply.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to provide a personal guarantee / director’s guarantee?

Yes — a director’s guarantee is required for all Custom Equipment Lease agreements (regardless of the value of the leased equipment).

For more information, please contact us.

When will the lease payments start?

Your equipment leasing payments will start the moment the equipment is delivered to your business address.

Can I claim the lease payments as a tax deduction?

Yes — but only the interest segment of the payments.*

Can I claim depreciation on the leased equipment?

Yes — the decline in the value of your leased equipment can be claimed as a tax deduction.

Though depreciation deductions are generally available only to the asset’s legal owner, hire-purchase arrangements like Custom Equipment Lease are generally treated as a notional sale of goods.

This means the lessee (you) rather than the legal owner (SilverChef) is entitled to claim the depreciation of the equipment over its useful life.*

(This is unless you’re eligible to claim an immediate or accelerated deduction using a
tax-depreciation incentive.)

Who owns the leased equipment?

Although the equipment is in your possession, SilverChef owns it until you submit your last lease payment, whereupon you become the owner.

We’ll record an interest in the equipment on the Personal Property Security Register (PPSR).

You’re free to use the equipment as you please, but only for business (not personal/domestic) purposes; and provided you don’t sell, give, assign, lend or release the equipment to a third party to use without our okay.

Also, if you shift the equipment from the location you originally provided us, you must let us know straight away.

Can I upgrade the equipment?

No — Custom Equipment Lease does not give you the option to upgrade the equipment.
